Investigations of Public Assistance Fraud

The purpose of the Investigations Office is to investigate potential fraud in Public Assistance Programs, including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, Childcare, Ohio Works First and the Prevention Retention and Contingency (PRC) Program. The investigation findings may result in criminal convictions as well as establishment of overpayments to the County. Also, funds collected from customers include incurred overpayments, receive court ordered restitution payments, and incentive payments as a result of collections. The County receives incentive payments for the collection of these funds.  The percentage rate for these incentive payments is 35% or 20%, depending on the type of case.

In addition to public assistance fraud, the Investigations Office investigates potential employee misconduct which may result from benefits issuance to ineligible customers.

Report fraud by calling the Fraud Hotline at 216-987-6950 or emailing the Investigations Office at CuyahogaInvestigationFraud@jfs.ohio.gov . You can also visit the Investigations Office at Cuyahoga Job and Family Services, 1641 Payne Ave, Rm 350, Cleveland Ohio 44114.
